Air Quality Index
Monitored gases and weather data from the continuous air monitoring stations (CAMS) are used by the TCEQ to publish near real time Air Pollution Watches and Warnings. In addition, the data is used to determine an Air Quality Index (AQI), a numerical and color value indicator of current air quality. This value is updated hourly and available on the TCEQ website.
AQI reports are reported during daily weather forecasts by most of the local TV and radio stations.
